What is Treatment Foster Care?

Helping the most vulnerable kids in Texas

Learn More Here

According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, there are currently more than 400,000 children in foster care in the United States. The children range in age from infants to 20 years old. While a majority of children are less than one year old, there are tens of thousands of kids who are between the ages of one and 16 years. These children, when they are not placed in foster homes, are put in residential treatment centers or psychiatric hospitals.

At CK Family Services, we have a commitment to helping these most vulnerable children through our Treatment Foster Care (TFC) program.

Overview of the Program

Our TFC program seeks to help children who are in a place that simply cannot provide them with the care and love that they need for a healthy and successful future. These kids, some who have moved several times within the foster care system, often exhibit behaviors that many foster parents are not equipped to handle. Our program provides training for people who want to give children a more permanent and loving home. Members of the TFC program will help kids in these situations readjust with the hope of placing them in a more permanent foster care home.

Additional Training

When you join our TFC program, CK Family Services will provide additional training so that you can learn how to deal with kids’ emotional and behavioral needs and provide the structure and care that these kids need. The program consists of additional training modules and providers are required to seek opportunities to expand their skill sets and expertise.

Benefits For the Kids

A stable home is something that so many children and their parents take for granted. When a child is moved around and placed in environments where they cannot be properly taken care of, it can undoubtedly cause them emotional harm. By placing children in an appropriate home with parents who have the training to deal with their behaviors, the kids have a much better chance of readjusting, learning new behaviors, and really experiencing what a loving family can be like. Above all, our program keeps high-needs kids out of residential treatment centers and psychiatric hospitals.

What Does a Professional Foster Parent Mean?

CK Family Services is seeking Professional Foster Parents to join our TFC team! As a professional foster parent, you will earn $1,500 a month whether you have a child in your home or not. One, or sometimes two, high-needs kids will be placed with you, and you will help them develop skills so that they can be moved to a traditional foster home. The money and other resources provided by CK Family Services will allow you to keep a more flexible schedule to ensure that the needs of the children are met.

Children are certainly our future, and they all deserve a loving and nurturing environment where they can grow to be successful. The TFC program plays a significant role in providing high-needs kids with a safe space where they can learn and grow.
