Safe Families for Children
Safe Families for Children is a movement of compassion that gives hope to families in crisis. Volunteer families open their homes to provide a safe and caring place for children when their parents recognize that they need extra support. Parents who voluntarily choose to connect with Safe Families for Children work hard to restore stability into their own lives so that their children may return home as quickly as possible. Our dedication to family support, stabilization, and child abuse prevention is driven by responsibility for the well-being of children in our communities.
CK Family Services is the North Texas implementer for Safe Families for Children and we are honored to be able to offer these free services to families in need as an extension of the spectrum of services we currently provide to children, youth, and families. We believe in healthy, loving families staying together and working through their challenges whenever reasonable and safe for all family members. CK is proud to offer community-based support to build up families in their time of crisis so that the whole family may thrive, again.
Safe Families for Children partners with churches, local community agencies, volunteer families, and government organizations in more than a 28 of the United States and has expanded into Canada, the United Kingdom and continues to grow internationally. The Safe Families for Children network has provided essential extended-family relationships to thousands of children and families annually.
Safe Families for Children at CK Family Services is successful when entire communities come together to support both volunteer and children and their families. Volunteers are needed at every level to help provide for the needs of our children.
CK is always looking for churches who can commit to sponsoring host families who are willing to open their homes to children whose families are experiencing crisis and isolation. Churches can also provide Family Coaches whose primary focus is ensuring the well-being of the child(ren) who are being hosted while coordinating communications between the various agencies, Host Family and the child’s family.
Individual Family Involvement
If you do not have a church home but would like to support Safe Families by volunteering to be a host family, we welcome your help! Host families provide a safe and caring home for children on a temporary basis. We know the impact of offering guidance and support through material goods or professional skills that individuals might be able to offer as well and encourage you to volunteer in this capacity as well. There are many opportunities to serve and we look forward to hearing how you want to be involved.
